Westwood Studios
Westwood Studios was an American video game developer founded in 1985 by Brett Sperry and Louis Castle. Initially operating under the name Westwood Associates, the studio became known for pioneering work in the real-time strategy (RTS) genre and for high-profile PC and console titles. Their best-known franchises include Command & Conquer and its subseries (including Red Alert, Tiberian Sun and the Yuri's Revenge expansion), and they also produced titles such as Renegade. Westwood gained a reputation in the 1990s for polished game design, strong multiplayer support, and innovative audio/engine work for its time.
The company was acquired by larger publishers during its history and was ultimately purchased by Electronic Arts in 1998.
