Taito Corporation
Taito Corporation (タイトー株式会社) is a Japanese video game developer, publisher and amusement-arcade operator founded in 1953. Initially established by Michael Kogan, Taito began as an import and distribution company and later moved into the manufacture of vending machines, jukeboxes and coin-operated amusements. The company became internationally prominent in the late 1970s and 1980s with a string of influential arcade titles — most famously Space Invaders (1978) — and expanded into a wide range of arcade hardware, home-console ports, and consumer software.
Over subsequent decades Taito has continued to produce and publish arcade and console/PC games (including franchises such as Darius, Bubble Bobble / BUST-A-MOVE and Groove Coaster), operate arcade centers and provide arcade networking services (NESYS). Taito also works on mobile and digital releases and collaborates with other publishers. The company became part of Square Enix’s group of companies in the mid-2000s and continues...
