SNK Corporation
SNK Corporation (originally Shin Nihon Kikaku) is a Japanese video game hardware and software company best known for creating arcade and console franchises such as The King of Fighters, Fatal Fury, Samurai Shodown, Metal Slug and the Neo Geo family of systems. Founded in 1978, SNK gained prominence in the late 1980s and 1990s with its Neo Geo arcade and home platforms and a distinctive roster of fighting- and action-oriented titles that built a strong international fanbase.
The company has undergone several reorganizations and brand changes (notably operating as SNK Playmore for a period) but continues to manage and develop its legacy IPs as well as new releases across modern consoles and PC. In recent years SNK has focused on revitalizing classic franchises with new entries (for example The King of Fighters XIV and XV), remasters and licensing partnerships, while supporting merchandise, events and community engagement around its properties.
