New World Computing
New World Computing was an American video game developer and publisher founded by Jon Van Caneghem in 1984. The studio is best known for creating the long-running Might and Magic role‑playing series and for originating the Heroes of Might and Magic strategy spin‑off (the early Heroes titles). Over the 1980s and 1990s New World produced a number of PC RPGs, strategy games and associated utilities/editors (examples include Might and Magic VII, Heroes II-related builds and tools, Chaos Overlords and editor utilities referenced as EDITOR2W/mm7.exe).
In 1996 New World Computing was acquired by The 3DO Company and continued to develop entries in the Might and Magic / Heroes franchises under 3DO ownership. After 3DO's bankruptcy in the early 2000s the studio was effectively dissolved and the Might and Magic intellectual property was later acquired by Ubisoft.
