Monolith Productions, Inc. is an American video game developer founded in 1994 and long known for narrative-driven and technically ambitious action and first-person shooter games. The studio built and licensed its LithTech game engine and produced notable titles across the 1990s and 2000s such as Blood, No One Lives Forever, the F.E.A.R. series (including F.E.A.R. and F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin), Condemned, and later multiplayer/experimental projects like Gotham City Impostors.
In 2004 Monolith became part of Warner Bros. (now Warner Bros. Games) and continued to operate as an internal development studio. Today the studio is known for working on mid-to-large-scale console and PC titles with a focus on immersive single-player experiences and strong production values. Over its history Monolith has also contributed middleware/engine technology (LithTech) and has been recognized for blending cinematic storytelling, AI-driven enemy behavior, and atmospheric level design.
