MakeMusic is an American company that develops music notation and music education software. They are best known as the maker of Finale, a long-established, professional music notation application available in several editions (including Finale NotePad and full Finale), and SmartMusic, an interactive practice and assessment platform for music educators and students. MakeMusic also distributes virtual instrument libraries and sample products under the Garritan name, and provides related content and file-format support for educators, ensembles, composers and arrangers.

Historically the company has focused on both desktop notation tools and cloud-enabled educational services, supporting music creation, practice, and classroom assessment workflows.
