id Software
id Software is an American video game developer founded in 1991 by John Carmack, John Romero, Tom Hall, and Adrian Carmack. The studio pioneered the first-person shooter (FPS) genre with landmark titles such as Wolfenstein 3D, DOOM, and Quake, and is known for advancing realtime 3D graphics and networking in games. id developed the id Tech family of game engines, many iterations of which powered their flagship titles and were influential across the games industry; older engine source code has also been released to the community under open-source licenses.
