Frictional Games is an independent Swedish video game developer best known for creating atmospheric, first-person survival horror titles. Founded in 2007 by Thomas Grip and Jens Nilsson (building on earlier work under the Frictional name), the studio gained wide recognition with the Penumbra series and achieved mainstream breakout success with Amnesia: The Dark Descent (2010). They continued to refine their approach to narrative-driven, psychologically intense horror with later releases including SOMA (2015), Amnesia: Rebirth (2020), and Amnesia: The Bunker (2023).
