Ensemble Studios was an American video game developer founded in 1995 in Dallas, Texas, best known for creating the Age of Empires series and the real-time strategy classics Age of Mythology and Age of Empires III. The studio earned a reputation for deep historical and mythological RTS design, strong single-player campaigns, and competitive multiplayer features. Ensemble developed and published a number of well-known executables and tools associated with its games (for example, ee-aoc.exe, aomx.exe, and the Age of Empires 3 autopatcher), and its franchises have remained influential in the RTS genre.
