DICE (Digital Illusions CE AB) — an Electronic Arts studio
DICE (Digital Illusions CE) is a Swedish video game developer founded in 1992 and best known as the creator of the Battlefield franchise. Headquartered in Stockholm, DICE developed a series of high-profile multiplayer shooters (Battlefield series, Battlefield 2142), as well as other titles such as Mirror's Edge and Star Wars Battlefront. The studio also developed and maintains the Frostbite engine (originally created by DICE), which has since been used across numerous Electronic Arts titles.
DICE was acquired by Electronic Arts in 2006 and today operates as one of EA's primary internal development studios, focusing on major AAA multiplayer and shooter projects. The studio continues to work on new Battlefield releases (the franchise's recent/ongoing entries include Battlefield 2042 and subsequent numbered entries often referenced as Battlefield 6) and supports live-service operations, matchmaking, and large-scale multiplayer infrastructure for its games.
