Codemasters is a UK-based video game developer and publisher best known for its racing games. Founded in the mid-1980s, the company built its reputation producing a mix of popular budget titles in the home-computer era and later a string of successful racing franchises. Over decades Codemasters became particularly associated with realistic and arcade-style racing series such as the Colin McRae/DiRT rally games, the GRID franchise, the TOCA/Touring Car series, Micro Machines, and the official F1 series.

In recent years Codemasters has focused on high-quality racing simulations and mid-range arcade racers across PC and console platforms, earning praise for vehicle handling, physics and track design.
