Codemasters
Codemasters is a British video game developer and publisher founded in 1986 by brothers David and Richard Darling and headquartered in Southam, Warwickshire, England. The company built its reputation producing successful racing and arcade titles across multiple generations of consoles and PC, including Micro Machines, the TOCA Touring Car series, the Colin McRae/DiRT rally series, the GRID series, and multiple officially licensed F1 games (e.g., F1 2012, F1 2013, F1 2014). Codemasters is also known for developing and using its in-house EGO game engine for many of its racing and action titles.
In 2021 Codemasters was acquired by Electronic Arts, and it now operates as a studio and brand within EA, continuing to produce high-profile racing simulations and licensed motorsport games. The studio is recognized for focusing on realistic driving physics, strong handling models, and delivering both simulation and accessible arcade experiences across a range of platforms.
