Bloodshed Software is best known as the original author and distributor of the open-source Dev-C++ integrated development environment (IDE) for Windows. Active primarily in the late 1990s and early 2000s, Bloodshed provided the IDE, bundled MinGW toolchains, utilities such as package/updater tools, and hosted downloads and documentation on its website. The project was widely used by students and hobbyist C/C++ developers because of its lightweight footprint and simple interface.

Over time the original Bloodshed-run project became less actively maintained and several community forks (notably Orwell Dev-C++ and later community/third-party revivals) appeared to continue development, add modern features, and provide updated compiler toolchains. Bloodshed Software today is most often referenced as the original owner/host of Dev-C++ and functions primarily as an archival/legacy resource for that software rather than as a large or actively expanding commercial vendor.
