AVG Technologies (AVG)
AVG Technologies is a software company best known for its AVG-branded security and utility products for consumers and small businesses. The AVG brand originated with the Czech company Grisoft in the 1990s and became widely known for AVG AntiVirus and a suite of system utilities and maintenance tools including duplicate finders, startup managers and one-click maintenance utilities. Over time the AVG product family expanded into web, email and mobile security, privacy tools, and performance/maintenance utilities.
In 2016 AVG was acquired by Avast Software, and the AVG brand continued as part of the combined product portfolio. Avast later became part of the consumer-focused security group restructured under Gen Digital. Today AVG-branded products remain available globally through avg.com and partner distribution channels, focused on antivirus, internet security, and PC/mobile maintenance tools.
