AVG Technologies (part of Gen Digital)
AVG Technologies is a consumer and small-business security software brand known primarily for its AVG AntiVirus products as well as a range of PC maintenance and performance utilities. The company originated in the Czech Republic (originally known as Grisoft) and over decades built a global user base with free and paid antivirus, internet security, privacy, and optimization tools. AVG-branded offerings include antivirus, internet security suites, tune-up/maintenance tools, and lighter utilities such as AVG Power Mode Manager.
AVG was acquired by Avast in 2016 and, following subsequent corporate transactions in the cybersecurity industry, is now part of the Gen Digital family (the combined consumer security company formed from Avast and NortonLifeLock assets). AVG’s product focus remains on endpoint protection, privacy and performance tools for consumers and small businesses, often distributed as freemium software with paid tiers and additional services.
