Apple Inc. is an American multinational technology company founded in 1976 by Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak, and Ronald Wayne. It began with personal computers (Apple I, Apple II) and rose to prominence with the Macintosh in the 1980s. Over the decades Apple has expanded its product portfolio to include iconic hardware such as the iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, and Apple TV, along with tightly integrated operating systems (iOS, macOS, iPadOS, watchOS, tvOS) and developer tools like Xcode and Instruments.

Today Apple is also a major services provider: the App Store, Apple Music, iCloud, Apple Pay, and Apple TV+ are key parts of its business model. The company maintains consumer-facing applications (historically iTunes and related helpers, Photos, Music, Apple Push services, etc.) and invests heavily in both hardware design and software ecosystems, including open-source contributions and a public GitHub presence for some projects and developer tooling.
