Adobe Inc. is an American multinational software company best known for its creative and multimedia products and services, including Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, Acrobat, and the Adobe Creative Cloud subscription service. Founded in 1982, Adobe has expanded from desktop publishing tools into a broad portfolio covering digital media creation, marketing, document management, and cloud services.
Allegorithmic was a French company that created the Substance suite of physically based texturing and material-authoring tools (Substance Painter, Substance Designer, etc.). Adobe acquired Allegorithmic in January 2019 and folded the technology and product line into its Adobe Substance 3D family. Today the Substance tools are branded as Adobe Substance 3D products (for example Adobe Substance 3D Painter) and are widely used in games, film/VFX, product design, and real-time visualization for creating PBR materials, texture painting, and material authoring.
