2K Sports (2K)
2K Sports is the sports-game publishing label of 2K, itself a publishing label of Take-Two Interactive. Launched in the mid-2000s following Take-Two’s acquisition of developers such as Visual Concepts, 2K Sports became best known for producing and publishing high-profile sports franchises across console and PC platforms. Its flagship series is the long-running NBA 2K franchise (developed primarily by Visual Concepts), and the label has also published WWE 2K titles and other sports-related games.
While the organizational structure and branding have evolved over time (with many teams operating under the broader 2K umbrella), 2K Sports has remained synonymous with realistic, annualized sports simulations and strong third-party licensing relationships (notably the NBA and WWE). The label focuses on development partnerships, publishing, marketing, and live-service elements for its sports titles across PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo, and PC platforms.
