How to use this tool

  1. Pick a switch from the grid. Use the type filters to narrow it down to linear, tactile, clicky, or silent.
  2. Click into the text box and start typing. Every keystroke plays the selected switch's recording.
  3. Watch the keycap on the right to see how far that switch travels and how its press feels.
  4. Compare the actuation weight, bottom-out weight, and travel in the stat cards below.
  5. Switch between switches to hear them back to back.

Frequently asked questions

Are these the real switch sounds?

Yes. Every switch here plays an actual recording of that switch from open keyboard-sound projects, not a synthesizer. Recordings are captured on real keyboards, so room and build acoustics affect them.

Why does the same switch sound slightly different each keypress?

Where multiple takes are available, the board rotates between them so rapid typing sounds natural instead of a single sample repeating.

Will a switch sound exactly like this on my keyboard?

Not exactly. The keyboard case, plate material, keycaps, and lubing all change a switch's sound. Use these recordings to compare the character of switches, not as an absolute reference.

Is my typing stored?

No. Everything runs in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to any server.
