Description
The Google Talk Plugin was a browser plugin provided by Google that enabled voice and video chat functionality in web applications such as Gmail and Google Talk/Hangouts. It installed native-code helpers for the browser to access the microphone and camera and facilitated peer-to-peer audio/video calls before wide adoption of WebRTC.
