ZSNES is a long-standing Super Nintendo (SNES) emulator originally created and authored by the developer known as "zsKnight" in the late 1990s. It became one of the most widely used SNES emulators on DOS and Windows platforms due to its performance optimizations and compatibility with a large number of SNES titles. Over time additional contributors formed around the project and releases were published under the ZSNES project name.

Active development on the original ZSNES codebase slowed and effectively stopped in the late 2000s; since then the project has not been maintained as actively as modern emulators. The historical ZSNES code and builds remain available from legacy sites and mirrors, and the emulator is notable for its role in early console emulation history. Community forks and ports (maintained by third parties) exist for those interested in updating or studying the original codebase, but there is no large, active corporate organization behind ZSNES today.
