Volition, Inc.
Volition, Inc. is an American video game developer best known for franchises such as Saints Row and Red Faction. Founded in the early 1990s and based in Champaign, Illinois, Volition built a reputation for action-oriented console and PC games and for technical innovations such as the Geo-Mod destructible-environment technology used in the Red Faction series. The studio developed Red Faction: Armageddon (the executable you referenced), among many other titles spanning open-world action/adventure and third-person shooter genres.
Over its history Volition has operated under several publishers and owners. The studio was long associated with THQ as a developer/publisher partner; during THQ's restructuring in the 2010s Volition and its IPs moved to other owners (notably Deep Silver/Koch Media under Embracer Group). Volition’s work focuses on single-player and multiplayer entertainment for PC and consoles, with an emphasis on narrative-driven, action-heavy experiences and technical gameplay...
