Ubisoft Entertainment is a French video game developer and publisher founded in 1986 by the Guillemot family and headquartered in Montreuil, France. Over the decades it has grown into one of the largest global game companies, operating many internal development studios and publishing major franchises such as Assassin's Creed, Far Cry, Tom Clancy's series, Just Dance, and Rayman. Rayman 2: The Great Escape (rayman2.exe) is one of Ubisoft's earlier and well-known titles, originally released in 1999 and developed under the Ubisoft umbrella (notably by teams including those that would become Ubisoft Montpellier).

In addition to creating and publishing games, Ubisoft invests in technology R&D, online services, and cross-platform distribution, and it frequently acquires or establishes studios worldwide to support a portfolio of live-service and single-player titles.
