Symantec Corporation

Symantec Corporation is a long-established software company founded in 1982 that became one of the most widely recognized names in cybersecurity and consumer security products. Over decades it developed a broad suite of security, backup and recovery, and system-management tools — including the Norton consumer product line (Norton AntiVirus, Norton Internet Security), Symantec Endpoint Protection, Ghost imaging, and Symantec System Recovery. The company was a prominent supplier of both consumer- and enterprise-grade security products and tools.

In recent years Symantec's corporate structure and branding changed: in 2019 Broadcom acquired Symantec's Enterprise Security business (bringing many enterprise products under Broadcom's software portfolio), while the consumer-focused business (Norton and related consumer security products) was spun out as NortonLifeLock (and later rebranded as part of Gen Digital).
