Stainless Steel Studios
Stainless Steel Studios (SSSI) was an American game development studio best known as the developer of the PC real-time strategy game Empire Earth (2001). The studio was founded and led by designer Rick Goodman (formerly of Ensemble Studios and a lead designer on Age of Empires) and focused on historical/strategy PC titles in the late 1990s and early 2000s. SSSI worked with publishers such as Sierra Entertainment to bring their games to market.
The company produced Empire Earth and related content during a brief but notable run before closing in late 2001 amid financial and publishing difficulties. Although the studio is defunct and its original website is no longer maintained, Stainless Steel Studios is remembered for its contributions to the RTS genre and for Empire Earth's ambition in covering large spans of history and gameplay eras.
