Sony Creative Software (now VEGAS Creative Software / part of MAGIX)
Sony Creative Software began as Sony's desktop audio/video software division after Sony acquired key multimedia product lines from Sonic Foundry in the early 2000s. Under the Sony Creative Software name it developed and marketed well-known creative tools such as VEGAS Pro, Sound Forge, ACID, and related utilities and helper components (installer preloads, registration utilities, error-reporting and file I/O surrogates) aimed at video editors, audio engineers, and content creators.
In 2016 the majority of Sony Creative Software’s product portfolio (including VEGAS and other desktop media tools) was sold to MAGIX, and the products were subsequently continued and rebranded under VEGAS Creative Software.
