Red Thread Games
Red Thread Games is an independent game development studio based in Oslo, Norway, founded in 2012 by game designer Ragnar Tørnquist and a group of industry veterans. The studio was created with the explicit goal of continuing and revitalizing narrative-driven adventure games, building on the legacy of Tørnquist's earlier work on The Longest Journey and Dreamfall. Red Thread positions itself around story-first, single-player experiences with a focus on rich characters and immersive worlds.
The studio is best known for Dreamfall Chapters, an episodic, crowdfunded follow-up to The Longest Journey/Dreamfall series, released in chapters between 2014 and 2016. They also developed Draugen, a first-person narrative exploration game set in 1920s Norway, released in 2019. Red Thread works both as a developer and publisher/partner on narrative projects, engaging community backing and external publishing partners when appropriate while maintaining a focus on storytelling-driven game design.
