LibreVR (Revive project)
Revive is an open-source compatibility project maintained under the LibreVR umbrella that allows Oculus-exclusive VR applications to run on OpenVR-compatible runtimes (such as SteamVR). Launched in the mid-2010s, Revive provides a translation layer and injection tools that intercept Oculus API calls and redirect them to the OpenVR/SteamVR backend, enabling users of non‑Oculus headsets to access Oculus Store content. The project is community-driven and distributed primarily via its GitHub repository, with binaries such as reviveoverlay.exe included in its releases.
LibreVR/Revive is focused on developer tooling and end-user utilities rather than commercial products — it’s maintained by volunteers and contributors in the VR community who respond to changes in VR runtimes and game updates. The project’s development history and issue tracker, feature work, and releases are publicly available on GitHub, and the codebase is intended to be portable and extensible so other developers can adap...
