Jasc Software, Inc. was an American software company best known as the creator of the Paint Shop Pro family of raster graphics editors and related utilities (for example Animation Shop). Founded in the 1990s and based in Minnesota, Jasc earned a reputation for producing affordable, feature-rich graphics and multimedia tools targeted at hobbyists and prosumers. Their Paint Shop Pro series (examples: Paint Shop Pro 5, 6, 7, 8, 9) was widely distributed and bundled with other utilities and plug-ins, making it a popular alternative to higher-priced image editors.
In October 2004 Jasc Software was acquired by Corel Corporation, and the Paint Shop Pro product line was absorbed into Corel's portfolio.
