F5 is a long-established application services and application security company that began in the mid-1990s and went public around the end of that decade. The company is best known for its BIG-IP product family — hardware and software application delivery controllers (ADCs) that provide load balancing, SSL/TLS offload, application acceleration, DNS services, and integrated security modules such as web application firewall and access management. Over time F5 expanded from appliance-based offerings into virtual, cloud-native, and SaaS-delivered services to address multi-cloud and hybrid application environments.

Today F5 offers a broad portfolio including BIG-IP, BIG-IQ management, access and application security solutions, and distributed/cloud-native application services.
