Livestreamer (chrippa — open-source project)

Livestreamer is an open-source command-line utility originally developed to extract streaming video from various streaming services and pipe it into a video player (VLC, MPV, etc.) rather than playing in a browser. It was distributed as a Python package and had platform-specific builds (including livestreamer.exe for Windows). The tool focused on providing a unified API and plugins for many streaming sites, enabling users to watch streams with their preferred local player and tools.

The project was primarily developed and maintained on GitHub under the user/org name "chrippa" and by several contributors from the community.
