Description
Zone.Identifier (German: Zone-Datendatei) is not a standalone application but an alternate data stream (ADS) used by Microsoft Windows to record the security zone information for files downloaded from the Internet. As part of the Attachment Manager and the "Mark of the Web" mechanism, Windows attaches this metadata (for example, ZoneId=3) to files so the OS and security components can show warnings, enforce execution policies, or block potentially unsafe content.
