Valve's Steam is a digital software distribution platform, launched in 2003, originally designed for use with Valve's own Half-Life 2 game. Steam also offers a variety of non-gaming related features. For instance, since 2011, it has offered a software portal called Steamworks, which allows developers to integrate Steam Leonard's, Steam Cloud, and Steam achievements into their games. Valve has also added features to Steam, such as a Curator system, which allows users to track specific games and collections of games they are interested in. In August 2016, Valve announced an update to the SteamVR software that allows for full motion control of Valve's Index VR headset.
