Counter-Strike: Global Offensive is a multiplayer first-person shooter video game developed by Valve and Hidden Path Entertainment. It is the fourth game in the Counter-Strike series. The game was released for Microsoft Windows, OS X, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3 on August 21, 2012, and for Linux on September 26, 2014. The game pits two teams against each other: the Terrorists and the Counter-Terrorists. Both teams are tasked with completing a series of objectives, the Terrorists, depending on the game mode, must either plant the bomb or defend the hostages, while the Counter-Terrorists must prevent the bomb from being planted, or rescue the hostages.
The objective of the game is to kill the other team's players, while avoiding death oneself. The game is set on fictional maps based on real-world locations. Players join a game by choosing a team, and then selecting a map. Once players are in the game, they can move around the map and interact with objects, such as doors, windows, and hostages. Players can also pick up and use weapons, explosives, and other equipment.
