I've just shipped WhatPulse 5.11.1, a maintenance release that focuses on one visible change and a lot of "feel better" improvements under the hood.
The headline: there's a new status bar, application syncing is easier to understand, and 5.11.1 includes a good round of crash and shutdown fixes based on real-world reports.
macOS note: After updating, you might need to reset the Accessibility permissions for WhatPulse. It should only take a minute, and there's a step-by-step guide in the help center.

New: a status bar ✨
There's a new status bar at the bottom of the main window. It's meant to give you a quick "how's WhatPulse doing?" glance without opening extra windows.
Here's what it shows:
- Collector status dot: a colored dot that tells you whether the collector is running or paused.
- Rich last pulse tooltip: hover over the last pulse label to see more detail: keys, clicks, uptime, network traffic, scrolls, and mouse distance.
- Pending applications: the status bar shows how many applications still need syncing. Clicking it opens the Applications Sync Status window.
If you prefer a cleaner UI: you can turn the status bar on or off in Settings → Appearance.
Improvements: app syncing, upgrades, and the Geek Window 🛠️
This release also smooths out a few things that were slightly annoying or confusing before.
Big network numbers fixed
The new dashboard highlighted an issue where very large network usages (in the TB range) were not displaying correctly in the app. It either set the value to zero or showed a smaller incorrect number. This was only for very large totals and only for download/upload stats.
This is now fixed.
Smarter upgrade handling & clearer version messages
- If your database version is too new for the client you're running, the error message now points to the minimum required version. Previously, this just said "get the latest version".
- After an upgrade, the client lets the website know about the new version, keeping things in sync.
Geek Window behaviour on multi-monitor setups
The Geek Window now uses pixel-perfect geometry persistence, which prevents the slow “drifting” effect when opening/closing it multiple times. It also behaves more predictably when plugging/unplugging monitors.
Fixes & Visual polish for macOS 26+ 🍏
- Updated macOS app icon for sharper rendering on the latest macOS versions.
- A large batch of defensive crash fixes around shutdown, window lifecycle, and database access.
If you've seen WhatPulse crash while closing, restarting, or reopening the Geek Window, 5.11.1 should feel a lot more solid.
