BitTorrent

BitTorrent is a communication protocol for peer-to-peer file sharing (P2P) which is used to distribute data and electronic files over the Internet. BitTorrent is one of the most popular protocols for transferring large files, such as digital video files containing movies or TV shows. BitTorrent is a distributed file sharing protocol. Users can download a BitTorrent "client" which will allow them to search for files on other users' computers and then download the desired files. Files are transferred directly from computer to computer, and because no central server is used, the bandwidth requirements are lower than they would be for a file download from a single server.
