The normal services of WhatPulse, the development of it’s programs, the hosting of the server are being offered to the users for free. This will always remain free.

However. To cover the costs of the server, WhatPulse now offers some extra services for a small amount. For only $2 USD a month you can sign up for these extra services.

These services currently consist of:

– No Google ads

– A maximum of 3 email forwards (you@users.whatpulse.org)

– 2MB for uploading pictures to be used in your profile, or your team’s profile

– Detailed graphs of your statistics

More features will be added with the input of our members, so it will be ever changing!

If you’re interested, you can sign up through the WhatPulse Control center. (http://my.whatpulse.org)

Thanks for your support!

Update on WhatPulse 1.5 for Windows.

There have been alot new features implanted into the 1.5 client already, but mostly improvements.

The server communication has been recoded completely to interact with a custom communication server

designed for WhatPulse. This, for one, makes communication alot faster and safer.

A new save file format, which removes the necessity of registry access, which leads to a more stable save file.

And alot more!

There is no official release date for 1.5, we’re trying to make it as best as we can before releasing it. Soon.

After a few months being hosted with the generous people of BigBlueNetwork,

it’s time to prepare for the future and possible expansions.

Because of these preparations, unfortunatly we had to say goodbye to our sponsor, BigBlueNetwork. We part ways with you with alot of gratitude, thanks for the last few months!

WhatPulse is now hosted within the network of ProServe which gives us the possibilities we need to prepare any future expansions.

This server move shouldn’t affect the website much, the site is going from a P4 2.8GHz to a P4 3.0GHz and a network in the Netherlands. You probaly won’t notice it moving. 🙂

What you will notice however is that the client saves a snapshot of the DNS when you start it. So even if the DNS for de site changes, the client still goes to the old server.

All you need to do is restart your client, and your pulses will go to the new server aswell, that’s it. 😉

Till next time!

What we are looking for are special interest sites, not your blog or personal websites, as awesome as they may be 😀

Also, for those who don’t pay attention to our forums, our forum images are now back at http://pulse.offbeat-zero.net/ Many many thanks to Radar, AgentGreasy, JoeChilds and dannybeckett, keep up the great work

You may have noticed when the make-over from the old website to the red one around new years, that an option called ’Newsletter’ appeared in your profile. Untill now, that did absolutely nothing. 🙂

It is now hooked up to a mailinglist that for one, will mail news posts to you. If you turn this option off you will be unsubscribed from the mailinglist and won’t get these emails.

WebAPI:

It finally got improved, and quite a bit.

The WebAPI now consists of XML files that update every 6 hours, giving about every statistical fact about your profile that’s possible.

If you want to make use of these files; there’s an option in your profile called ’Generate XML statistics’ (Same option as in a team profile, a founder can turn this on for their teams). Tick this, save you profile and wait untill 3:00, 9:00, 15:00 or 21:00 GMT has passed your statistic file has been created!

An example script to parse the XML file and display it on your website is available on the Downloads page.

If you have your own script pointed to the user.php script, user_rss.php script or any of the other PHP API scripts, please recode your scripts to use the XML files. The PHP scripts will be gone in a few weeks (read; about 2 months).

mIRC users should update their scripts aswell, there’s a new version which supports the new WebAPI.

More information about this can be found on the WebAPI page.

Edit, apperantly the news email got sent twice, sorry!
