You may have noticed when the make-over from the old website to the red one around new years, that an option called ’Newsletter’ appeared in your profile. Untill now, that did absolutely nothing. 🙂

It is now hooked up to a mailinglist that for one, will mail news posts to you. If you turn this option off you will be unsubscribed from the mailinglist and won’t get these emails.

WebAPI:

It finally got improved, and quite a bit.

The WebAPI now consists of XML files that update every 6 hours, giving about every statistical fact about your profile that’s possible.

If you want to make use of these files; there’s an option in your profile called ’Generate XML statistics’ (Same option as in a team profile, a founder can turn this on for their teams). Tick this, save you profile and wait untill 3:00, 9:00, 15:00 or 21:00 GMT has passed your statistic file has been created!

An example script to parse the XML file and display it on your website is available on the Downloads page.

If you have your own script pointed to the user.php script, user_rss.php script or any of the other PHP API scripts, please recode your scripts to use the XML files. The PHP scripts will be gone in a few weeks (read; about 2 months).

mIRC users should update their scripts aswell, there’s a new version which supports the new WebAPI.

More information about this can be found on the WebAPI page.

Edit, apperantly the news email got sent twice, sorry!

Counting: USD $22,35 sofar.

Update: Forums are back up, all data recovered, so no posts are lost thankfully. Wasted generously bought the license by himself, and restored the forums to their old state.

Don’t let him wind up for all the costs though, support him! 😀

The new API works through XML. Your user profiles and team profiles have a new option called ’Generate XML stats’. If you tick this option, a file will be created every 6 hours with your statistics in it.

For example: http://whatpulse.org/api/users/1.xml (the URL to your own profile would be http://whatpulse.org/api/users/your_userid.xml))

The team files reside in http://whatpulse.org/api/teams/your_teamid.xml.

For example parsing scripts you can download 2 scripts in the download section

An information page, and new mIRC/xChat scripts to handle the XML API will follow.

Due database limitations this variable is only updated every 6 hours (00:00, 6:00, 12:00 and 18:00), and can be set to 0 untill one of these times has past.

We will be having an ’Official’ chat next weekend on the WhatNET IRC Network (irc.whatnet.org), a listing of servers and services can be found at http://www.whatnet.org.

The talks will be about the future of WhatPulse, what’s in store for the future of client(s), and general mumbo jumbo. Just try to have fun!

The time of the event will be pretty much open, through the weekend, set times for chats and such never seem to go well as no one particular time is convenient for everyone, so just pretty much come the whole weekend! 😀

Again, thank you all so much for making WhatPulse the success it is, with your help we’ll see you again at the next 50,000 🙂
