πŸŽ‰ New Features

  • New Design: Looks arenÒ€ℒt everything, but after years of the same, the client is now sporting a fresh and modern design. It's easier to use, prettier to look at, and you can get to different pages quicker.
  • Dark Mode! And boy does it look good. Switch between the Γ°ΕΈΕ’β€” modes in the Settings.
  • A new installer & updater that works the same on Windows and macOS. (Linux tbd)
  • There's a new app called WhatPulseMaintenanceTool that is used to install, update, and remove the client.
  • Update notifications now only happen within the client. You'll see a banner at the top of the window.
  • Application Uptime History: We've added the time selection on the application uptime, so you can select the most used date ranges, or a custom date range to see how long youÒ€ℒve used an application.
  • A new setting called Pause notifications lets you mute all notifications coming from the client (i.e., successful pulse).
  • We've added support for Arabic, Bulgarian, Spanish, and Polish. These updates are driven by our awesome community; thank you to Ammar, Rado, Inktest, and Krzysiek!

πŸ“ˆ Improvements

  • Better indicate when certain stats are disabled on the Overview tab.
  • Network Improvements: When downloading with 200Mb/s or more, the accuracy has gone from ~80% with 3.x, to ~98% accuracy with 4.0. ðŸő€
  • The 'Open Window on Startup' setting is now also available on the General Settings tab.
  • Improved the way applications are uploaded to the website so that they show up faster.
  • An online database restore now downloads to your system's temp directory. This fixes restores when using portable mode.

πŸ› Bug Fixes

  • Fixed a crash in relation to the GeoIP (network traffic correlation to countries) database.
  • Fixed a crash when your Windows or macOS username has non-Unicode characters in it. (i.e. Ð ПÐő)
  • Fixed high CPU and unresponsiveness, which sometimes happened on Windows after waking up after sleep when networking is enabled.
  • Fixed fact statistics sometimes being displayed as "%VAR%"

πŸ“ Notes

  • The NPcap version is updated to 1.60, which will get updated during the installation.
  • Automatic Bug Reports and Usage Data: The client can automatically collect and send us anonymized data about bugs and usage. If you'd like to learn more about what's collected, how it's sent to us, and how we use it, please check out this Help Center article.

πŸŽ‰ New Features

πŸ“ˆ Improvements

  • Windows: the icon now automatically adjusts to the selected theme.
  • Start online back-ups automatically (in 5 seconds so you have time to abort, if needed)
  • Improved opening the browser when logging into the client. Also show the manual link to the login page instantly.

WhatPulse 3.3

May 16, 2021

πŸŽ‰ New Features

  • Weekly Online Backups: the client will now prompt for online backups for your local databases, if you're a Premium member. If your computer has crashed, or if you're simply moving computers, you can restore the backup from our website and get all your stats back!
  • Add Windows key and macOS command key tracking and heat map visualisation.

πŸ“ˆ Improvements

  • Added the Export Wizard to the Export buttons on the Uptime tab.

πŸ› Bug Fixes

  • Fix possible division by 0 and crashing the client when the geek window is open (or opened).
  • Fixed a ton of smaller bug, updating code to newer framework functions (TLDR: code maintence).

WhatPulse 3.2

April 17, 2021

πŸŽ‰ New Features

  • Add a table view on the Input History tab. Here you can list key and click counts grouped by hour, day, week, month, or year. Input history is a Premium feature.
  • Add a geek window setting to call it to center and reset its coordinates.
  • Add a shortcut to the account tab in the tray menu.

πŸ“ˆ Improvements

  • Bring client into focus when authorization is done on the website.
  • Make it easier to switch between an analytics widget and table view by using icons, instead of a dropdown.

WhatPulse 3.1

January 17, 2021

πŸ› Bug Fixes

  • Fixed 'Network access is disabled' error when the client is communicating online (i.e., pulsing).
  • Fixed double start-up on Windows. This caused the client window to show even if the option was disabled. It also caused the client to lock up, sometimes.
  • Fixed icon scaling on Windows on a high-resolution scale.
  • Fixed Wireless vs. Wired network traffic fact.

πŸ“ˆ Improvements

  • When finding new application versions, mark them for update to the website and log an application upgrade (for future use in an application timeline).

πŸŽ‰ New Features

  • Add an action on application lists to open the online profile of the application.

πŸ“ˆ Improvements

  • Make it more apparent that settings need to be saved by greying out the save button until a setting has changed.

WhatPulse 3.0

December 27, 2020

πŸŽ‰ New Features

  • New Design: We've redesigned the entire client and give it a much more modern look. - New Tray Menu: One of the best kept secrets of the client was that you could hover over the tray icon and get a quick glance of your stats. We've made that an integral part of the new menu and sproushed it up a lot more!
  • New Design: Every single screen in the client has gotten a facelift.
  • New Iconography: Let's face it; the previous icons were from 2001. Starting 3.0, we'll be using icons that are sleek and that you recognize.
  • New Keyboard Heat Map: This is one of our favorites and yours (so we're told) too. It looks so much better now!
  • Check out our blog to see screenshots.

πŸ“ˆ Improvements

  • Database Optimizations: A lot of work went into the local database and optimizing it to be more resilient. We've got more ways to go, but this means less 'critical database errors'.

πŸŽ‰ New Features

  • Windows: Moved from Winpcap to Npcap for better Windows 10+ support, better accuracy in traffic counting, and better security.
  • Signed digitally: No more 'unidentified developer' warnings when installing or running WhatPulse. Finally.
  • macOS 11 (Big Sur) Support: There are some smaller nuggets in this support, like automatically adjusting the menu icon to the dynamic color of the menu bar.
  • macOS: Add new permissions manager that shows a window validating the Accessibility and Input Monitoring system settings. It also walks you through exactly how to configure these.
  • macOS: Recognize Apple M1 processors. This isn't support for them (even though the client runs on M1). More info here.
  • Client Navigation: Allow META+1, META+2, etc. to navigate through the tabs in the client. On Windows and Linux (tba), the META key is CTRL. On macOS, it's CMD.

πŸ“ˆ Improvements

  • Auto Pulsing: After detecting no internet and disabling auto pulsing, try it again after 1 hour.
  • Qt Upgrade: While boring, we did want to mention that we've upgraded to Qt 5.15.2. THe reason: this solves the high screen resolution and scaling issues that 2.x had. NOTE: Reports say this doesn't work fully, when you have scaling set to 125% or above.

πŸ› Bug Fixes

  • The mouse heat map export returned a list with coordinates '0,0'. Not very useful. Now, it actually lists the coordinates.
  • The Input History widget has the 7 weeks and 7 months switched. Not any more.

WhatPulse 2.9.2007

December 23, 2020

πŸ“ˆ Improvements

  • Enable auto pulsing after 1 hour of waiting after 3 initial failures.
  • Windows: Fix positioning of the tray menu for menu bars on the right, left, or top.

πŸŽ‰ New Features

  • Recognize new Apple M1 computers (this is not support for M1).

WhatPulse 2.8.3

April 15, 2018

πŸŽ‰ New Features

  • Applications were not uploading properly from certain systems with an older database structure or older sqlite libraries.

πŸ› Bug Fixes

  • From 2.8.2b1, new applications didn't upload. This fixes that!
