Well, the last 3 days has been quite a ride. On friday night our last server got shut down by our sponsor without word, so we could not get a fresh database backup. First thing we had to do, is find a new host, fast. Yesterday we finally found a good one, interweb.us.
We have just gotten everything, including pulsing to work. So everything should be OK.
As far as the database goes, due to the server move, we only had a backup of 23 August, so unfortunatly everything what happened between 23 August and now, is lost. If you joined or created a team between this date, please do so again. If you signed up in those days, please do so again.
About the pulse history; We were thinking about it for a long time, there was a poll in the forums for a long time. And due to this move, we decided to rearrenge it a little bit. Yes, the pulse history is gone, and from now on, it will only show you a month's old pulses. This is to minimize our database, so we can get the best speed out of it, plus it's easier to backup it when it's smaller, so that will be done every day from now on.
Any questions can go to the forums, or here.
NOTE: If you have any problems pulsing still, restart your client, it needs to update it's DNS.

damn thing, i lost about 200,000 kc
We all lost keys...and unfortunatly there's nothing we can do about it, we're not going to insert every pulse that everyone made after 23 aug manually.
What Sabre forgot to mention *evil look*, was that the Windows client 1.4 was supposed to be released this weekend. Seeing everything what's happend...well, we've been busy. The client will be released sometime this friday.
Just thinking about the sheer amount of resources you guys must use...
Incredible.
I hope the WP team will learn from this that regular backups are a basic necessity. 90% of my teams keys and clicks are gone, and I cba to start up my team all over again.

Obviously there are easier ways to insert all of the pulses but ah well.
Well, thats just great. dumb thing
It took about 3 hours to make a backup of the old database...so we had the backup set for once a week to avoid the 3 hours a day of slowness, we decided to make it once a week. And since the new database will only contain the pulses of the last 30 days, it'll take about 10 mins, so yes, it's going to go every night.
Second point; Obviously not, since we don't even HAVE those records.
I can´t apply my account.
I open WhatPulse, try to write my username and password and then click "Account Info" button, I wait for awhile until I get "...timed out" error.
Grrr!!
You must have an old version (< 1.3), those still use the old URL pulse.whatnet.org, this DNS entry was changed a few hours ago, and might take some time still to update everywhere.
Lost over half mil ck :/

sucky sucky $10,-
But lets pulse on
bye bye whatpulse , that's just poor backup methods , you should be backing up daily.
Lost about 200,000kc, and went down about 600 places, but thats life! Good thing is that whatpulse is back on track. Keep it up guys!!
Not able to pulse...there's no timed out error but the pulse doesn't go through.
I'm using v1.3
I just downloaded the software on a new computer (so DNS is most likely not the issue) and I got to that first screen when you enter your login and then you press "Get Account Informaiton".
The box now just displays this:
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//IETF//DTD HTML 2.0//EN">
lol I not only lost my keys...
But also my own account and team =P
And having the same problem as these other guys.
I try to pulse.. the icon of pulsing changes...
But nothing happens.
The keys haven't been pulsed and there was no error message..
Grtz
Same here, I thought I was the only one with this problem. When I try to pulse, the thing flashes green, and nothing happens. Before, I got an error message about being timed out or something. So how do you restart your client? Do you uninstal the one you have, and then install it again or what?
I'm using 1.3, restarted the client, and still whenever I try to pulse, it flashes the green icon but nothing's sent to the server as far as I can tell.
If you were doing weekly backups, shouldn't the latest be from 30 August?
Yea, same for me. I was able to pulse earlier this morning at around 2:00PM Eastern.
i lost my whole account and now my pulse client aint even recognising my new account
I'm having the same problem... I put my username and password into the client (which I just downloaded and installed, as I had to reinstall my OS yesterday) and click "get account info" and it just says "Done." Can't get into the program, can't start pulsing.
i get a .bin error after i installed whatpulse 1.3??? help
is it okay if i deleted the avg file?
you guys do a good job, lost about 500,000 keys but hey you do what you can, and hell I don't have to pay monthly for the service, so what right do I have to complain. Thanks guys for your effort and hard work.
Yup, I lost about 500,000 keys myself.
But best of luck in future guys.
No!!!
I lost 1 000 000 keys :*(
Sorry
100 000
If I would like to pulse it's abort without any error, but it doesn't pulses
I loged out and retarted Watpulse...more than onetime...
Have I to reinstall WhatPulse or to update it?
maybe im mistaken(i probably am!) but i thought the point of this was to count your keystrokes etc, and from what i read in the original post your going to "reset" everyones figure every month? if this is so, then whats the point in people continuing to use whatpulse? i can see your point, smaller/faster database and all, but it just seems like a crap idea as far as the users are concerned ?
Uh, no. Only the pulse history, as in the "View this users pulses".
The keycount/clickcount isn't reset at all doing this..
In the "Key Frequencies" window, it clearly states I have some 273,000 keystrokes. The statistics claims less than half.
Why not read "Keystrokes since last reset" in the Key Frequencies window, and if that number is higher than the 'official' number (thus concluding the user lost keys on the Black Friday), create a rubbish post in the appropriate table, containing the difference, with a reference to the Black Friday. Foolproof (innit?).
lol, i kept my keys..
very strange though..
what sucks even more is those of us who joined after the 23rd
.
