Program Settings Tab #1

When you've installed WhatPulse, you can right-click the tray icon and click 'Program Settings'. A window will pop-up with a bunch of handy little settings to make WhatPulse just that little bit better.

Below is a quick run-down of things you'll see in the first tab of the WhatPulse program settings.

Launch at Windows Startup - Opens WhatPulse when you start your computer. Usually good to keep enabled unless you are not the only person who uses your computer. Please refer to our rules article for more.

Start timer over on manual Pulse - If you set a digit in the 'Pulse every X hours' box (to the lower-right of the settings window), then it enables a timer to Pulse for you every X amount hours. You can choose to reset this timer if you manually Pulse so that you don't get any errors.

Show splash screen on startup - Enabled by default, this box will show the small WhatPulse image in the centre of your screen each time you start WhatPulse. If you'd rather not see it, just uncheck this setting.

Refresh tray icon every 3 minutes - WhatPulse sits quietly in your system tray (the small area in the corner of your screen with all the little icons). If you want WhatPulse to be at the beginning of all these items so you always know where it is, enable this!

Pulse before a proper shutdown - If enabled, WhatPulse will detect your computer is about to be shutdown and will Pulse your stats to the server. Useful if you are having 'Invalid Token' errors when you start your computer. Does not work in event of powercuts :)

Use alt+ctrl+P to Pulse - If enabled, whenever you hold down the key combination alt+ctrl+P, WhatPulse will send your local statistics to the server and reset your token..

Bink tray upon key/click - If enabled, a small red dot will appear at the bottom of the WhatPulse icon in your system tray every time you hit a key or click a mouse button. Useful for debugging problems, figuring out if a key or mouse/joystick button is being registered or not and something fun to look at when you're bored.

Pulse on double click tray - If enabled, whenever you double click the WhatPulse icon in your system tray, it will send your local statistics to the server and reset your token.

Use tray balloons (win2k+) - If you're sick of the boring, square box that appears when you hover over the WhatPulse system tray icon, make sure this is enabled. It will show a much better, rounded box.

Check for updates on startup - Makes your WhatPulse client check with our servers to see if there's a new version available each time WhatPulse is started.

Tray Icon: Set to either Black, Green or Blue to change the colour of the WhatPulse system tray icon. Useful if you have a customised Windows skin.

Pulse Every: Set an amount in any of the boxes and WhatPulse will send your local statistics to the server and reset your token. For example, if you enter '50000' in the keys box (second box down), WhatPulse will send your keys to the server every time you've typed 50,000 keys. If you have it set to hours, this will make WhatPulse Pulse every X amount of hours.
